"Female Hero Undershirts"

VOY, 5x10 "Counterpoint"
About halfway through Voyager's fifth season, along with the introduction of the VOY jackets was an accompanying VOY undershirt for Captain Janeway which we call the "VOY female hero undershirt."

This "female hero undershirt" resembled the standard VOY uniform undershirt only superficially; it was actually an entirely different garment.

Rather than a flat front, 2-piece back, and set-in sleeves, the "female hero undershirt" stylistically resembled the male and female "hero T-shirts," which were also introduced that production year, in that it had 6 panels (3 in front and 3 in back) and it also had raglan sleeves.

The men's undershirt maintained the previously established standards and did not upgrade (though the T-shirt did).

For the remainder of the show, whenever Janeway was shown wearing only the undershirt (without the jacket/upper half of the jumpsuit), she wore the "female hero undershirt."

VOY, 5x23 "11:59"
VOY, 6x19 "Child's Play"
VOY, 6x25 "The Haunting of Deck 12"

B'Elanna also wore the "female hero undershirt" once in Voyager's sixth season; the tank top seemed to be more her liking, though:

VOY, 6x22 "Muse"

(That's why we call it the "VOY female hero undershirt," rather than the "Janeway hero undershirt.")

Interestingly, at least some of these "female hero undershirts" were jumpsuits - that is, the undershirt was literally sewn to the pants and the two acted as a single garment (technically a jumpsuit) which gave the appearance of two separate garments!

We're not sure if these are "female hero undershirts" or regular VOY undershirts, but these auction listings of Janeway's costumes described the undershirts and pants as being attached (i.e. a jumpsuit):

(Our guess is that they're "female hero undershirts," though that's admittedly based solely on the era in which the VOY jackets were used)
